I was looking at this blog statistics for today. Some one landed on gortp.com using the search term  “work related travel cheat“  from google.

Now I’m curious to know

• who  – name
• where – company, travel location
• what – cheating plan

We planned to have good time at Taste of Morrisville. But, the rain played the spoiler role.

Original plan was to go to the event at 3 PM, but neighbors decided to at 4 PM. Unfortunately it started raining at 3:45 and we reached theer around 5 PM.

Event was supposed to be till 7 PM, but they closed the stalls and all restaurants were in packing mode.

Then we drove to Kadambam (Indian Grocery Store), got a tamil movie.

Instead of Taste of Morrisville day, it turned to be Dinner + Tamil Move night.

Even after watching the movie, I cannot remember the name

Netflix is offering Watching instantly (no DVDs) plan for $7.99. Previously lowest plan for online streaming was 8.99 with 1 DVD at a time. The two lowest plans, which include one or two DVDs out at a time, increased by $1 each to $9.99, and $14.99, respectively.

When I checked my Netflix Account, its says

You are currently on the 1 DVD out at-a-time (Unlimited) for $8.99 plan which is no longer offered. If you select a new plan, you will no longer be able to return to this plan.

Not sure, if I can continue to stay with current plan or have to pay $9.99. With this move by Netflix, more new titles should be available for streaming.

I read in WRAL news today about Progress Energy in North Carolina is lowering electricity rates starting Dec 1, 2010.

Typical residential customer will save $4.11 a month, or about $50 a year.

The North Carolina Utilities Commission approved three rate changes this week:

• A decrease in the monthly amount customers are charged for fuels used to generate electricity
• An increase of $1.56 in the monthly charge used to pay for energy-efficiency and demand-side management programs
• A decrease of 7 cents a month in the charge for state-mandated renewable energy

For residential customers using 1,000 kilowatt-hours a month, their bill would fall from $106.30 to $102.19, Hughes said.

When would PSNC lower it rates?

H1 Visa quota in General and Advanced Degree category is still available. Last few years, H1 cap used to run out in first week of H1 filings. But, due to economy and recession in USA, H1B Visa 2011 cap is still available. At current pace, looks like cap will be available till next year March or April.

Comprehensive immigration reform will have to be introduced into Senate when new congress takes office. Looks like Democrats will maintain majority in the Senate, but if GOP takes over House, it will be tough to get any bills passed. Having CIR passed in lame duck session is close to impossible.

It would be nice to have an iPhone App to make phone calls to India. If Vonage can provide access to Vonage Landline account through App, it will make things lot easier. Unfortunately, Vonage would require you to have a new account (Vonage for Mobile) and you have to pay for call made to India.

If you are looking for an iPhone app that will make free phone calls to India, I haven’t found one yet. But, there is a neat little trick I use to make calls to India from my iPhone.

Vonage App for Facebook – Free Calls

Vonage recently announced an app for Facebook. It allows you to call your friends using facebook, all over the world for free. But, they have to have vonage for facebook app installed in their smart phone.
