Flashing Yellow Arrows for Left Turns at 5 Intersections in Cary

September 15, 2009 · Filed Under Our Triangle

flashing yellow arrowsI was reading he BUD Newsletter and came to know about new Flashing Arrows to be used for left turns at 5 intersections in Cary. Changing anything with respect to traffic signals will have an impact. For someone who is going to see that flashing arrow for the first time will not know what to do and how to proceed.

Details of Flashing Arrows

  • 4 Vertical lights
  • Solid Red Arrow
  • Solid Yellow Arrow
  • Flashing Yellow Arrow – Left turns are allowed, but first yield to oncoming traffic
  • Solid Green Arrow

Proposed Intersections in Cary

  1. Cary Parkwat and Kildaire Farm
  2. Cary Parkway and Bond Lake Dr
  3. Kildaire Farm and Ten Ten Rd
  4. SE Maynard and Cary Towne Blvd
  5. Walnut St at US 64

But, when I make a left turn, on the signal that has Yield to Green or flashing yellow, I’m going to lookout for oncoming traffic. Every driver will have to do that and will do that. Accidents will happen if they are not attentive. It will be interesting to see the impact on drivers thoughts and mindset of the new change.
