I had eaten at Zyka twice in 2010 and had been fairly pleased, so was happy when I saw that they had Restaurant.com gift certificates for sale. Arrived to find a sign on the door that they are no longer accepting Restaurant.com coupons. I called and spoke to Restaurant.com today and they told me that Zyka is contractually obligated to accept the certificates. Today I called and spoke to the owner of Zyka. He was extremely rude and told me to “never call him again about Restaurant.com.” Needless to say, I won’t be back and I plan to let others know about their shabby business practice.

I felt their menu was ample, much more variety than Azitra.
The prices on the menu looked roughly in the same league, but the value difference really became apparent when we compared portions.
We tried a variety of dishes. First was an appetizer that was slightly less flavorful than equivalent at Azitra, as if the meat had been marinated a bit less time, or the spices weren’t as strong. It might have just been the night we were there, it has happened at Azitra before too. However, they offered (at no extra cost) an excellent variety of chutneys which more than offset the flavor difference for this particular appetizer (name escapes me, its a seared meat dish).
But then, main courses came. Every bit as tasty as Azitra, even perhaps more so. However…. and this is the reason Zayka is now my first restaurant stop when I am near Brier Creek, and takes precedence over Azitra….. the portions we got at Zayka were much more in line with what one expects to pay for a meal at this cost level. We are talking about $20-25 per person out the door with drinks, and when you are paying that kind of money you expect to eat right and take some home with you. We stuffed our bellies, yet took home leftovers that would have rivaled the size of our original order at Azitra. Wasteful? Not one bit, all of it gets eaten sometime within 12 hours later. The big difference is that it sends us back to Zayka as our first stop for Indian.
The one area that Azitra still has an edge is ambience of the restaurant itself… I will still take my sexy-eyed dates to Azitra first when trying to get them in the mood. After we’ve gotten past the initial flirting phase I’ll take them to Zayka to see what eating is all about
